After my trip 4th trip to Thailand, I told myself that I must put up a post about this.
No, it is not the prostitutes or the lady boys.
Though I must say they are a lot of them around.
Even if you are not of the observant type, you would still notice people displaying picture(s) of this one person all over the Kingdom.
He is non other than the King of Thailand - King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
King Bhumibol is virtually displayed everywhere from the streets to your common coffee shops & even is every single home in Thailand. Since June 1946, the King has reigned through 17 military coups & 27 prime ministers. He is the world's longest serving monarch in the Thai history. Not only that, he is also reported to be one of the richest monarchs in the world.
I don't want to shed light here as to why he is so popular.
I only want to point out that I am really impressed & extremely taken aback how someone who has been in power for so long can still be so popular especially when there is a law called lese majeste that will throw folks into jail just for criticizing the King.
I can't even re-call how our Malaysian Sultan looks like what more of his deeds for the Malaysian people.
Well, the Thais love their King & is immensely popular to say the least.
